She hmmphed and wiped at foggy gleam her breath made. She wiggled at her position on the sofa, inching her knees further from the window but still leaned back on the sill.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">That hadn\u2019t been too bad. Right. She raised her eyes upwards. She and Buffy had managed to remain civil in front of Mrs. Summers. Cordelia smiled a little. It had been nice to see Buffy\u2019s mom again, healthy and alive.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia always liked Mrs. Summers and weirdly Mrs. Summers had always been nice to Cordy. Then again Joyce Summers was just one of those people that truly had a good heart. She was nice to everybody. Whatever. Cordelia liked Buffy\u2019s mother &#8211; her daughter on the other hand, well Hmmph.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia frowned. What was it with her and Buffy? They couldn\u2019t be in same room together without starting to snipe at each other. Even now, when Cordelia appreciated Buffy\u2019s courage and strength the slayer could still annoy the hell out of Cordelia. The blonde couldn\u2019t help but revert to her patented whine- <i>What about me?<\/i> Sure, Buffy was the chosen one, but hell there were other people in the world too.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia shook her head. She knew for a fact that Buffy did care for others. And Cordelia knew for a fact that she had changed, yet, Cordy couldn\u2019t seem to remember it when confronted with the 17 year old Buffy. It was like they brought out the worse in each other. Cordelia couldn\u2019t help but wonder if that was true in 2002. Cordelia hadn\u2019t actually really talked to the slayer since Cordelia left Sunnydale. Willow had always been the primary contact between Sunnydale and LA.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Oh well. It didn\u2019t matter now. Cordelia wasn\u2019t supposed to try to be best friends with the slayer, just to get Buffy to believe that Cordy was scared of Angelus and had to stay at her house. Actually that hadn\u2019t been that hard. Buffy never did have a high opinion of Cordelia\u2019s courage and Cordy was truly scared of Angelus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Whatever the disaster of the evening, Cordy\u2019s bitching forced Buffy up into her room, probably still on the phone complaining with Willow.<br \/>\nAnd Cordelia was allowed the freedom of the couch and the window.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia shook away her thoughts and concentrated on the darkness outside, hoping to see Angel. Home. God, she was so ready to go home.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia gasped, nausea flooding her body bringing a stinging pain to her chest. She choked on her scream unable to stop the tears that automatically streamed down her face. Angel. Something had happened to Angel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The thought filled her mind as her body ached and shook. The pain, the surety of her knowledge was a potent as if it were a vision. She scrambled to her feet, brushing at her tears needing to get out of the house.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She had to find Angel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">***<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia ran not knowing where her feet were taking her just allowing the ache to carry her through the streets of Sunnydale.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She was brought up short by strong arms pressing her into a solid body. Tears blurred as she gasped out trying to struggle.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cCordelia. What happened? What\u2019s wrong?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia blinked as the deep voice broke through her need to keep running. \u201cAngel?\u201d She whispered, glancing up into the handsome face of the vampire.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIt\u2019s me. See, sweater.\u201d He pulled back a little.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia stared at her father\u2019s sweater, the material too snug for the vampire\u2019s broad chest. She tentatively reached out to test the fabric. Cashmere. She gulped. \u201cI thought\u2026I\u2026\u201d She gave a worried smile into the dark eyes. \u201cYou\u2019re okay?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cFine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cYou\u2019re not hurt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe Angelus duo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cEverything is okay. All we have to do now is go home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cHome.\u201d Cordelia nodded. Cordelia bit her lip. Angel was standing in front of her perfectly fine but the ache and the dread were still flowing through her heart. \u201cAngel B?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cGone to wait for his future- the right one.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cHe\u2026okay, right.\u201d Cordelia blew out a burst of air. It must have been nerves. The waiting finally had gotten too much and she freaked.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cCordelia, what happened? Did you have a vision?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cUh, no.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel studied the young woman. She was agitated and worried still. She wasn\u2019t acting at all like he expected. Angel expected a kiss or a hug at least. Had the other vampire been right?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He watched as her brow furrowed up studying him. What had he done wrong?<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cCordy?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cHmm, nothing,\u201d she shook her head. \u201cSo, we just do the spell?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe\u2019ll go back to your house.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She nodded, glancing again up at the vampire. \u201cSo, the not yelling thing is new.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel stilled. Yelling? He studied the young woman. A glimmer of understanding flickered. \u201cYelling would only aggravate my migraine and ulcers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cYou don\u2019t\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel turned putting his finger to her lips. \u201cI do when you don\u2019t listen to me and run out into the middle of the night leaving the safety of Buffy\u2019s house.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cNo, Cordelia. You can explain and maybe I won\u2019t yell maybe I will. But whichever, it will be done when we are home and not in the middle of Sunnydale.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cHmmph. Well, don\u2019t forget I\u2019m mad too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI won\u2019t.\u201d Angel felt a smile emerge. \u201cI love you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia smiled. \u201cHmmph, that won\u2019t help you for stuffing me in a bathroom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel laughed. \u201cCome on. Let\u2019s get home.\u201d He grabbed at her hand.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia bit her lip as the vampire pulled her along. The ache wasn\u2019t going away.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Part 17<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWesley,\u201d Fred yelled louder than was needed. Wesley poked his head out of his office staring where the young woman pointed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Gunn practically jumped the stairs, taking the steps three at a time to get to Fred\u2019s yell.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIs that what I think it is.\u201d Gunn stopped in front of the cackling air and expanding tear in the hotel\u2019s atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe Portal is opening,\u201d Wesley confirmed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAngel and Cordy are coming home.\u201d Fred wrung her hands.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI hope. Charles, the weapons as a precaution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Gunn got the tranquilizer guns handing one to Wesley.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The trio stood anxious waiting for the portal to fully form. Wesley and Gunn raised their guns as a figure in a leather duster jumped through.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The vampire paused staring at the weapons then up at the faces of the men. \u201cWesley, Gunn?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAngel,\u201d Wesley asked tentatively.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cYes.\u201d He raised the glowing orb and smiled. \u201cAnd more importantly Cordy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wesley let out a grateful sigh. \u201cThank god,\u201d he went to get the orb, only stopping at Angel\u2019s growl.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOf course, upstairs. Cordelia will be fine, all we have to do is break the orb.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cShit, throw it on the ground and stomp it.\u201d Gunn suggested. \u201cOr not.\u201d He added at the vampire\u2019s other growl as he followed Wesley up the staircase.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWhat I say?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Fred rolled her eyes as she moved behind Angel. \u201cYou just told Angel to stomp all over Cordy\u2019s soul.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Gunn nodded. \u201cOh, when you put it like that I deserved the growl.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cYep.\u201d Fred shot over her shoulder. \u201cAre you coming?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cHell yeah.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">***<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel and the rest of Angel\u2019s Investigations surrounded the lone figure on the bed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAngel,\u201d Wesley called.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel stared. It was Cordelia but not. He needed time. \u201cAlone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wesley paused and looked at the others. Wesley was sure that his expression matched their disappointed ones. They all wanted to be there when Cordelia woke up. He sighed and nodded. Angel had been through a lot. Wesley knew how frantic the vampire had been at the realization that Cordelia was alone facing two Angelus. Angel had the right.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAll you have to is break the orb,\u201d Wesley repeated. \u201cAnd when you both are ready, we all would like to hear about what happened.\u201d He urged the others out of the room.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWes,\u201d Gunn whispered.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cNo. Let them be alone. After all, everything is fine. We took the wafers and my memory is the same,\u201d he looked to the others. Gunn nodded along with Fred.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The young woman shrugged. \u201cIt hasn\u2019t even been an hour since he left.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Gunn wiped a hand over his head. \u201cThis time shit freaks me out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cYes.\u201d Wesley agreed. \u201cNow that Cordelia and Angel are home, it\u2019s time we devise a way for Wolfram &amp; Hart not to utilize the portal\u2019s again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI\u2019m all\u2026.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOther than blowing up the law firm.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIt would work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIt\u2019s short term. We need a long term solution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cBlowing them back to hell, seems pretty long term to my way of thinking,\u201d Gunn grumbled to Fred as they followed Wesley back down the stairs.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Part 18<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel sat on the edge of the bed and placed the orb on the night side table. He looked around, scenting the room. It was his and Cordy\u2019s. His memory wasn\u2019t affected. He didn\u2019t recognize any of it, except the young woman on the bed. His hand brushed at the hair, running his fingers through the strands.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Shorter. He studied the body. It was fuller more rounded than the teenage version. Different but the same. Angel brushed at the marks on the delicate neck, lowering his face. Exactly the same. His Cordelia. He lifted up handling the orb in his palm staring at the glow. Truly his Cordelia. The vampire closed his fist around the fragile glass.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia shot up on the bed her eyes wide. \u201cAngel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cHere.\u201d He held out his hands. \u201cYou\u2019re home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia stared at the vampire, then down at her body. She jumped out of the bed running to the full-length mirror. She patted at her hair. \u201cYep.\u201d She yanked up her shirt. \u201cIt\u2019s back.\u201d She said happily, running her fingers over her scar.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel stood watching the lone reflection in the mirror. His eyes narrowed at the mar on her beautiful skin. What the hell was that? What caused that pain? It better be dead whatever it was.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWeird,\u201d Cordelia shot over her shoulder. \u201cThat I\u2019d actually be glad to have Xander\u2019s break up reminder on me, uh.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel growled. The moron did that to her. He needed to quietly check with Wesley to find out if the boy was still alive and if so why.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThe sun,\u201d She laughed. \u201cIt\u2019s really me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel\u2019s eyes went to the small of her back. It was a sun, tucked in the curve of Cordelia\u2019s backside a magnet for the eyes, begging to be touched.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">So much he didn\u2019t know, so much he wanted so badly to learn. \u201cYou\u2019re home.\u201d He repeated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI\u2019m home. We\u2019re home,\u201d she turned staring up at the handsome vampire. She frowned. Okay, she was happy, no doubt about it, but the ache was still there. \u201cAre you sure you weren\u2019t hurt,\u201d she patted at the vampire\u2019s chest and stomach, trying to find the reason for her angst.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI told you I was fine.\u201d He held her hands up.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cYeah, you did, but sometimes you\u2019ve been known to fib a bit about that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel\u2019s lips twitched in the beginnings of a smile. A smile. Angel had done it. He was going to have the future he wanted.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cNot this time. Cordy,\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cHmm.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cCan I please kiss you?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia crinkled her brow. \u201cSince when have you asked?\u201d She giggled. \u201cWow, time in Sunnydale has made a gentleman out of the vamp.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel frowned. How had the vampire with a soul treated her? Had he no consideration of the value of the woman.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOh, don\u2019t scowl, of course you can. I\u2019ve been waiting for like ages.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ages. God, she didn\u2019t even know the meaning of the word. Angel leaned in, his hands gently cupping her face, marveling at the colors flashing in the hazel eyes. He touched his lips against the softer ones. He tensed waiting for the scream, the fear. He blinked as he got more laughter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia pushed away his soft kiss. \u201cGee, I won\u2019t break.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel stared. She hadn\u2019t screamed. \u201cI\u2026no, you won\u2019t will you. Too strong.\u201d He leaned back in this time taking the lips, pressing against them, moving his as his tongue teased. Angel felt weak in the knees as she responded, pushing her body in, meeting his questing tongue, allowing him to taste. Angel got lost in the kiss, reliving the flavor that had driven his demon wild.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The soft moans became pleas of fear. Angel jerked up.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAngel, what?\u201d Cordelia blinked up.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel shook his head. She still hadn\u2019t screamed. It was just his imagination.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAngel, are you all right?\u201d Cordelia puzzled her brow as she caressed the strong planes of his face. Something wasn\u2019t right. Angel was acting weird and she still had that strange aching sadness. She had to talk to Wesley. Maybe they screwed up again somehow.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI\u2026I just want to love you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOkay with me, but you seem\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI just\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cScared to, uh. I hate these time trips. We never seem to know if we are coming or going.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel nodded, latching on to the excuse. \u201cLet\u2019s just,\u201d he stared at the soft lips. \u201cKiss again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia nodded. \u201cAnd again, again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cYou talk too much.\u201d He raised a brow.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia laughed. \u201cThere\u2019s my Angel.\u201d She cupped his face and kissed, opening her mouth giving the joining depth and texture.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel staggered, wrapping his arm around the young woman\u2019s waist as he stumbled back on the bed. She was kissing him. There was passion and it was for him. No other. He kissed back, giving her everything-need, desire, love- coating it with his mouth and tongue. The guilt and screams were being pushed away as the longing took over.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia pushed away the sense of wrongness because it was right. She was home with Angel. Everything would be fine.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">***<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia moved tentatively drawing her body out from under Angel\u2019s. She plopped her body on to the chair and stared at the sleeping vampire. She didn\u2019t understand. The ache was still present. The knowing that something had happened to Angel but Angel was there. She just made love to him. Cordelia just saw every part of his body and he hadn&#8217;t been injured. So, why wasn\u2019t she ecstatic? Something was wrong.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She watched the sleeping form as she pulled on some clothes. She just hoped that Wesley was still in the hotel. The feelings she was having were too upsetting, too real to ignore.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">***<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOh good, you are still here.\u201d She peeked into Wesley\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The man looked up adjusting his glasses. \u201cCordy,\u201d he stood, opening his arms for a hug.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia happily obliged. This felt right, Wesley holding her. Her friend. It felt more right than the love making upstairs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe missed you.\u201d Wesley leaned back, a smile centered on his face.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cHow long were we gone?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAn hour, but it was a really long hour.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI can imagine.\u201d She frowned.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cCordy, what is it?\u201d Wesley sat sensing the young woman\u2019s unease. He was sure that the soul spell hadn\u2019t been painful. Oh lord, what if his research had been wrong.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia curled up in one of the chairs. \u201cI\u2019m not sure, maybe nothing. I just don\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cCordy?\u201d Wesley leaned in over the desk getting concerned.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia took a deep breath. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t seem right.\u201d She blurted out.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWhat doesn\u2019t?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAngel, me, it just doesn\u2019t feel right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cCordy, before we sent Angel after you- Gunn, Fred, and I took a potion, wafer rather, to retain our memories if some how Angel\u2019s appearance in 1998 changed history so we could fix it. None of us have had any indication that our memories our invalid.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWhich Angel?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cExcuse me?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAngel A or Angel B?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cCordy?\u201d Wesley was more than a little confused.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWesley, you sent an Angel from the future to warn me and our Angel about a screw up in the time line.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wesley leaned back in his chair. \u201cI did?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cYeah, a dark broody souled Angel. One that existed because Angelus of 1998, him, had noticed me and put me in a coma.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOh dear.\u201d Wesley slumped and tried to think quickly. \u201cBut, you are here so the wafers and whatever I did worked.\u201d He sat back up.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThat\u2019s just it. Did it?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI\u2026yes. Fred, Gunn, and I all remember. Angel, our Angel left only a few hours ago to find you. It actually had only been an hour but you and Angel have been upstairs for a while. He was angry, guilty, and scared for you. It was double that this time and you- well, really Cordy, was it easy for you to face two Angelus\u2019 knowing what they had planned for you, knowing that they were Angel.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cNo, Cordy, both of you are feeling the effects. Don\u2019t let that ruin your love for each other.
