She lifted the memo he\u2019d handed them. \u201cWyndham Pryce Private Investigations? There is no pleasure is self-glorification! This is name pimping!\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The vampire only nodded in agreement.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wesley stood aghast. \u201cI would never! How dare you suggest that!\u201d He lifted the bills that had just arrived at his desk a few hours ago before he came to the decision and brandished them in their face.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThese are expenses! Much more than our income in case either of you looked at our company finances. If we don\u2019t do something fast, we will be bankrupt! Penniless and poor! The only reason I suggested the name was because I am the employer and it is only fair. Frankly I could care less if it were called Chase Private investigations Cordelia, we need to be making some money!\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cChase sounds good.\u201d Cordelia\u2019s mouth stretched into a smile. Angel looked down at her with a betrayed pout and the girl blushed. \u201cRight. No. We don\u2019t like this.\u201d She stuck her chin up. \u201cWe\u2019re not agreeing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The watcher sighed. \u201cLook I can\u2019t do this without you and how would you help the helpless if you couldn\u2019t even help yourselves. We are running out of reserves and we need some collateral to keep this hotel. And the visions don\u2019t exactly come with a schedule, so we need something else to do during the time the PTB call upon us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel took a deep breath. \u201cI realize I\u2019m still in the litter box for my bad behavior Wesley, but isn\u2019t this taking it a little too far with the bossing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wesley bristled. \u201cI am NOT bossy! I am TRYING to keep us afloat! And furthermore, I do not need your advice on this. I know what I am doing. We need this. And we\u2019re doing it.\u201d When both his employers didn\u2019t speak he nodded.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cGood. Now go out and put up these flyers. We need all the help we can get.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel ground his teeth before snatching the stack of flyers off the table. \u201cDo we ever.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wesley pointed to the door with a firm glare and both the vampire and the seer walked out, but not before Cordelia stuck out her tongue at their boss.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">***<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel stood outside the hotel, the sun had set a few minutes ago and watched the sign he\u2019s just hung beside their previous \u2018Angel Investigations\u2019 one and sighed. Cordelia walked up to him her arms filled with office supplies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cHow is it, that we don\u2019t have enough money to stay \u2018afloat\u2019,\u201d she imitated Wesley\u2019s accent perfectly, \u201cbut we have the dough to throw away on paper clips and an electric pencil sharpener for the bossy twit?\u201d She grumbled.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel lifted his brown eyes and watched the pretty brunette glaring at the new sign of \u2018WPPI\u2019 going up by their entrance. Reaching out he took her burden with her grateful smile and shrugged.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWhile we\u2019re drowning, I\u2019m sure he\u2019ll want us to make a raft with the clips and use the sharpener to grind meat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia raised an eyebrow. \u201cOh my. Was that a funny?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The vampire frowned as they started to walk up to the hotel. \u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIt so was!\u201d Cordelia slapped his arm lightly, teasing. \u201cIf you\u2019re making funnies, you must feel pretty good, should I be ready with the stake and chains routine, because wow, what a change.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI only went beige for a while Cordy.\u201d Angel rolled his eyes as he held the door open for her before stepping in and placing the carton on the reception counter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cYou were way too beige-y Angel. We were kinda afraid you wouldn\u2019t find your way back to colorsville there for a while. What with giving my clothes away.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He turned and narrowed his eyes at the perky young woman who only grinned back without a trace of guilt. \u201cYou made up for it Broody, but doesn\u2019t mean I\u2019m going to let you forget it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Shrugging out of her coat, that Angel instinctively helped her out of before going to hang it with his own, she looked around the lobby.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWell. We\u2019re officially open. Wyndham Pryce Private Investigators.\u201d She wrinkled her nose. \u201cYou know if you add an M in there it would just be plain wimpy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The vampire muffled his laughter, lest he get blamed for being too happy. Truth was; he was closer to it than he\u2019d like to admit. After the absolute mess he\u2019d made with the whole Darla incident, he felt like the luckiest manpire on the face of this earth to be finally let back into his family.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Into their lives and into their hearts. It had been slow and difficult, but he was getting there. Because he didn\u2019t belong anywhere else. And neither did he want to.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAngel, Cordelia, is that you?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWhat; does he leave his eyes here every time we take an extra breath?\u201d Cordelia looked around glaring as if expecting to see some disembodied eyeballs tucked somewhere.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel smiled slightly as they walked to Wesley\u2019s office. \u201cHe probably heard the door Cordy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The seer snorted softly before freezing in the doorway. \u201cOooh, we have company.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel nearly collided with the girl when she suddenly stopped and blinked up at Wesley who was standing behind his desk. \u201cAh, there you are. Come in, come in. We have a client already.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The watcher smirked. \u201cDidn\u2019t I tell you those flyers were a rather fine idea?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia rolled her eyes before stepping into the room and Angel stood there besides her watching the graying head turn and equally bright gray eyes met his with excitement. The old woman smiled a rather wobbly smile that sent creepy chills down Cordelia\u2019s spine.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Even Angel suppressed a shudder. There were just some people who could creep you out by just breathing. The old woman stuck her walking stick on the floor and pushed herself to her full five feet, three inches of height.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wesley smiled happily. \u201cMrs. Peabody, meet my associates Angel and Cordelia. They will be assisting you with your problem. Angel, this is Samantha Peabody.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia leaned over Angel\u2019s shoulder, her eyes on the woman walking to them excruciatingly slowly. \u201cWhat is holding her together? There isn\u2019t enough sticky tape in the country to keep those boobs from touching her ankles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The vampire nearly bit off his lip in an effort to hold the bubbling laugh and instead cleared his throat before extending his hand in a greeting. \u201cNice to\u2026 WHOA!\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Before any of the occupants of the room could more or say a word, the old woman moved like a flash of lightening her arms wrapping around the vampire\u2019s waist as she bounced there happily. \u201cHot diggity! I got myself a live one!\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia gaped with shocked amusement as the vampire lifted his brown eyes up at Wesley with deadpan clarity. \u201cNo.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">***<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAnd I\u2019ve been so scared.\u201d The feeble shoulder shook and Angel felt the exaggerated vibrations all the way down to his toes as the woman proceeded to stay pressed against his side. He had tried to push her away, but she clung to him like a scared little puppy.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><i>A very old, wrinkly, little puppy, with no hair.<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">While Cordelia was hiding her giggles behind her hand, Wesley totally ignored the predicament the vampire seemed to be in. Mrs. Peabody looked up into Angel\u2019s face with an indulgent smile.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cAll I need is a big strong man to save me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wesley cleared his throat. \u201cYes well, Angel will help in any way he can.\u201d The vampire in question looked up with a sharp glare, which the watcher ignored. \u201cIn fact he will take you home Mrs. Peabody. You have nothing to worry about. This stalker will not lay a finger on you while we\u2019re on the case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If it were possible Angel would have paled.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia looked at the dirty old woman hugging Angel and frowned. \u201cWhy would someone stalk her anyway?\u201d Wesley cleared his throat pointedly and threw her a wide-eyed glower.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The woman only blinked before the wide smile was back on her face. \u201cI mean what could he possibly want?\u201d She widened her eyes for emphasis, her hand on her heart.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI may be old girly, but I\u2019m still all woman!\u201d The old woman raised her head before sticking her nose in the air, nearly toppling on her ass. Angel held her shoulders and used the opportunity to detach her from his hip.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Managing to put a few inches between them Angel finally used the opportunity to jump away from her and offer her a shaky smile. \u201cWell um, whoever is bothering you Mrs. Peabody. We\u2019ll find him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She looked up with a suggestive tilt of her wrinkly face and grinned. \u201cYou can call me Sam, hotstuff!\u201d Angel gasped more with surprise then the pain when she lifted her walking stick and poked him mischievously in his right butt cheek.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia looked up at Angel with an eyebrow. \u201cYou look constipated. I thought you didn\u2019t have bowel problems. Being dead and all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWhat she means is Angel is dying to help you. Aren\u2019t you Angel?\u201d Wesley cleared his throat. \u201cYes, well, we seem to have everything covered.\u201d He looked pointedly at Cordelia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI believe you should run Mrs. Peabody home Angel. She\u2019s been rather disturbed and will appreciate the service. Mrs. Peabody,\u201d he smiled at the woman, \u201cyou have nothing to worry. Your life is in good hands.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOooh, I LOVE a man with good hands.\u201d The old woman gazed up at Angel breathlessly smitten with the tall dark vampire.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel glared at the watcher, mentally picking apart each hair follicle on his head and shoving them up his nose, but he had no choice but to offer the woman his arm when she seemed to gesture to it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><i>Think Angel! Think!<\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">His eyes caught the snickering brunette. \u201cCordelia should come with me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cNo.\u201d The seer shook her head with mortification. \u201cI have\u2026um\u2026filing to do!\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wesley blinked at the murderous look on Angel\u2019s face and fingered his collar as he realized the intent in those topaz eyes. \u201cI think that\u2019s a good idea Cordelia. Angel could use an extra pair of eyes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She caught the pleading in Angel\u2019s face as he was practically dragged out of the office.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWhat\u2019s wrong with the ones he\u2019s got?\u201d She muttered before grabbing her purse and following the constipated vampire.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">***<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel took a deep unneeded breath as he stepped into the little living room and turned the lights on. \u201cHere you go Mrs. Peabody. Why don\u2019t you go to bed, while I take a look around?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He turned to see Cordelia holding the woman\u2019s elbow gingerly with her pointer finger and thumb as if it were a leech, a rather disgusted look on the young woman\u2019s face. He reached out and took the woman by her other arm, if only to relieve his seer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The things he did to get into her good books. When Cordelia flashed him with those rare, sun-in-her-eyes smile. Angel smiled back stupidly.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOoops. I seem to have dropped me keys.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Blinking he looked behind him to see the woman\u2019s keys lying a few inches away from his feet. With a sigh, he let her lean on her walking stick, turned and bent down to retrieve them. When his fingers touched the cold metal, his eyes bugged out and he nearly lost his footing when he felt a large piece of the flesh on his ass being pinched.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hard. \u201cAWO!\u201d Jerking up with the keys in his hand and a blush, if he could, Angel glared down at the old woman.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">She offered him a mossy smile and held out her arms. \u201cTake me to bed big boy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">***<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Wesley sighed happily as he leaned back the phone to his ear. \u201cOh this will work. I can feel it in my bones,\u201d he told the man on the other end.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWe really did seem to be treading water barely and this woman paid upfront. It seemed she\u2019d heard of Angel and was only happy to let us take her case.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Gun sighed on the other end. \u201cI don\u2019t know dawg. Angel\u2019s not too good with real people.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cOh don\u2019t worry Charles,\u201d Wesley assured him in all confidence, \u201cI\u2019m sure the harmless little old woman is no trouble at all. What could she possibly do to upset him?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">***<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A steady nerve twitched in Angel\u2019s temple as he looked down at the woman plastered to his side. \u201cMrs. Peabody. I already checked the perimeter four times! There\u2019s no one out there. Please try and get some sleep.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The gray head shook spasmodically as she gaped up at him adoringly frightened. \u201cI can\u2019t! Suppose he climbs into my window and catches me in bed! I can\u2019t be left alone in there. I sleep in the nude.\u201d She wriggled her eyebrows suggestively and Angel felt the panic start to build in his stomach.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">No amount of money was worth this.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWhat are we waiting for?\u201d Cordelia muttered crossly as she sank lower in the chair. \u201cHe\u2019ll probably be too catatonic to escape.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI was Miss California before you were born girly!\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThey HAD beauty pageants in the Mesozoic Era?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel smiled softly at Cordelia before literally yanking his arm out of the old woman\u2019s grip. \u201cCome on Mrs. Peabody. You should really try and get some rest.\u201d He helped her up, trying to keep enough distance between them so she wouldn\u2019t be able to reach his ass.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For a frail little thing she sure had a mighty strong grip.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Samantha shot the girl another acidic glower. \u201cThe pageants were more of a scholarship fund,\u201d she told Angel, her hand catching his bicep and flexing there. \u201cOoh.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cYes Mrs. Peabody.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWhat college did you go to Mrs. P? The University of Prehistoric Dinosaurs?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cCordelia.\u201d Angel looked over his shoulder and met the brunette\u2019s eyes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Samantha ignored the jealous young woman as she wrapped her hand around the expanse of his upper arm. \u201cSuch a nice man.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel hid the smile as Cordelia pretended to be toothless. If he was lucky, the relic would fall asleep dead and he\u2019d finally get some time alone to talk with his best friend.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It had been a while.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI have removable dentures.\u201d Samantha wriggled her eyebrows.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He spun around so hard to look at her, Angel tripped, his arm getting snatched from her grip and he hit the side of the dressing table with a yelp, his brown eyes brimming with horror.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cCordelia!\u201d He squealed as the woman took a step closer to him.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cBack off saggy boobs!\u201d His seer jumped between him and the old hag.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI know karate!\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">***<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWesley, man I hope you know what you\u2019re doin\u2019. It wasn\u2019t long ago when the tiniest little thing could make the vampire unstable. Remember what he did to W&amp;H?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The watched rolled his eyes. \u201cOh I\u2019m sure Angel is handling it just fine. He\u2019s gotten a lot better.\u201d He sipped his tea.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cBesides, I\u2019m sure he\u2019s doing everything he can to be a polite young man to Mrs. Peabody. He still feels rather guilty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">***<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cI am NOT picking it up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia frowned at the walking stick lying between them and put down the two mugs she\u2019s warmed up for them. Blood for him, coffee for her. \u201cWhat\u2019s wrong?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Samantha looked up with a feeble pout. \u201cI dropped my stick.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cordelia blinked at the stony expression on the usually gallant vampire. \u201cAnd you\u2019re not picking it up because?\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Angel looked up with irritated embarrassment, his brown eyes dark.
